2023 Central Qld IOM Regatta. 9th & 10th September 2023
A cloudy chilly morning greeted the 17 skippers who started race 1 in a brisk "Top of A" SE breeze. The cloud cleared, but generally the breeze stayed much the same for both days. The racing was extremely close through most of the fleet, and sailing was managed by the "Guru" Bill Clancy, and Scoring handled by the highly efficient Gwen Warne. Thanks to both of you.
A stump's on Saturday Doug Allen from the Sunshine Coast held a 4 point margin from Greg Torpy with another point to Aaron Farrar.
However, on Sunday Doug's luck ran out, and so did his electrics and he missed 3 races. Without any handy drops left he was pushed back to 3rd overall, beaten by Aaron Farrar in 2nd, and after a pretty masterful display, Greg Torpy took out the Regatta 10.5 points in front.
Good Regatta sailed in tough conditions. Thanks and well done to all skippers.
